What is ProctorU?

ProctorU is a platform that is partnered with your institution to help you take an exam online while ensuring academic integrity is upheld. Using this platform allows you the convenience of testing from home 24/7, 365 days a year.

It is vital to schedule in advance, if you schedule 72 hours in advance, your cost will be $15.  If you schedule later there are convenience fees that could more than double your cost.

How to Prepare for Your ProctorU Exam?

Step 1:

Students in courses using the ProctorU (a.k.a ProctorU Live+) will need to schedule an exam. To schedule an exam:

  1. Login to Moodle and navigate to the course you need to schedule a ProctorU exam for.
  2. Locate the Access ProctorU Resources link in your course. This link is typically located at the top of the course or near the actual exam. Follow the on-screen instructions to schedule your exam.

Step 2:

Next, you will need to download the Guardian Secure Proctoring Browser. This is the secure browser you will use to take your exam. If you want to learn more about the Guardian Browser, click here.

Step 3:

Test your equipment before exam day and again on exam day, in an environment that is identical to or close to your actual testing location. You can test your equipment here.  If your equipment fails the test, you will need to connect with ProctorU tech support or change devices and re-run the equipment check.

For ProctorU, you need to:

1.    Have a webcam.

2.    Have a photo ID to show the camera.

3.    Be in a quiet room alone (to the greatest extent possible).

4.    Have a good Internet Connection – consider turning off other Internet devices or put them in airplane mode.

5.    Be on a laptop or desktop computer (PC or MAC) – not a phone, tablet, iPad, Chromebook, etc.

It is vital to schedule in advance, if you schedule 72 hours in advance, your cost will be $15.  If you schedule later there are convenience fees that could more than double your cost.
