Panopto is a video platform which includes software for recording and live-streaming videos, a portal for storing and managing your videos, a search engine for finding content within your videos, and interactive video players. Panopto is a great resource for recording lectures and creating supplemental video tutorials for increased learning in and outside of the classroom to improve student learning and is available to current LSU faculty and staff. These videos can be added to your Moodle course for easy access.


1.  Log In to your Moodle Course.


2.  Turn EDITING ON.


3.  Select Add and Activity/Resource, then select PANOPTO from the tools menu.


4.  Once you Select Panopto, press SELECT CONTENT.  



5.  Next, You will be prompted to answer the following: : "How would you like to grade this assignment?" Select the appropriate response. Then press CONTINUE.

6.  Next Select the RECORD field, then the PANOPTO CAPTURE BROWSER 

7.  The Record screen will appear :

8.  Selecting the RED CIRCLE (record) button will prompt a 5 second courtesy countdown.  From this screen, you can also select which audio, vidio and screen settings you wish to use. 

9.  Once you are done recording, hit the record button to stop.  The video will then process and once complete, you will recieve a notice that the video is ready. You can edit the name of the video from this screen.  You can record a new video, select redo, view or edit your video.  The default name of all videos is the Day of the Week , Date and then timestamp. 


10.  Once recorded, exit out of the window and reload the Moodle course.  From here you can press SELECT CONTENT again and then select the video you recorded.
