Federal regulations require that federal aid awards be based on courses in which students demonstrate academic engagement. Academic engagement is generally done through an academic activity.

Academically related activities include but are not limited to:

  • Students submitting an academic assignment;
  • Taking an exam
  • Participating in an online discussion about academic matters;

To assist in this process, students and faculty will use Moodle to confirm academic activity.

Faculty members will create an academic engagement activity (AEA) through Moodle.

Deadline for Academic Engagement Participation:

ELearn1/ELearn2 or 1st Session/2nd Session courses:  AEA is due by 11:59 p.m., Central Time, the third class day.

In person and hybrid courses require that AEA is due by 11:59 p.m., Central Time, by the end of the first week of classes.

Instructions to complete the Academic Engagement Activity (AEA)

  1. Students will log in to Moodle and navigate to their respective course.
  2. Students will locate the assignment/activity designated (AEA).

Note:  It is helpful to press CTRL F and search AEA to easily locate the AEA assignment in Moodle.
